About BuildMetric

Better numbers build better contracting businesses

We make the financial side of contracting easier to understand, check, and act on.

Why BuildMetric exists

Contractors are expected to price risk, manage crews, sell work, satisfy customers, and still understand every line of a financial statement. Yet many online tools reduce that work to an unexplained answer in a box. A result without its assumptions is difficult to trust—and even harder to use in a real estimate.

BuildMetric is creating a focused financial toolkit for independent contractors and growing construction firms. Our job is to turn important business calculations into clear, inspectable workflows. We show what goes into a result, explain what it means, and identify where a local professional or company-specific data should take over.

Who we build for

Our tools are designed for owners, estimators, project managers, and office teams in residential and light commercial trades. A solo remodeler may use BuildMetric to set a first sustainable hourly rate; an established specialty contractor may use it to pressure-test burden assumptions across a crew.

  • General contractors and remodelers
  • Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, painting, and other specialty trades
  • New firms establishing pricing discipline
  • Experienced operators reviewing assumptions before a new season

Our standard

We favor a smaller number of dependable tools over a directory of shallow calculators. Every calculator must have a defined use case, testable formulas, original guidance, worked examples, sources, and limitations. We write for capable operators, not for search engines.

BuildMetric provides educational information, not individualized tax, legal, insurance, or accounting advice. We want our tools to improve the questions you take to your bookkeeper, CPA, insurer, or attorney—not replace those professionals.
